Kozo is a wooden structure made for you to create with. Whether it’s an artistic piece that merges color and light or a bookshelf in your living space, the expansive flexibility it offers will let you turn it into one of a kind.

Designed by Jihad Khairallah, Kozo is a bookshelf that embodies minimal and modular design principles. The inspiration behind Kozo was to provide end users with the opportunity to interact with the design and make it their own. By incorporating different types of modular shelves and integrating various materials and colors, each Kozo bookshelf becomes a unique piece.

The key strength of Kozo lies in its versatility. The modular system allows for different types of back panels to be combined, depending on the desired size. Stainless steel brackets fixed to the back panel provide the necessary support for the shelves, which are made of 4mm aluminum sheets. To add a touch of elegance, the brackets are covered by a 3cm x 3cm wooden sleeve that can be finished in natural wood or colored finishes. Additionally, an end cup made of materials such as brass, marble, or wood covers the end of the bracket.

With Kozo, the possibilities are endless. The height and width dimensions are flexible, thanks to the modular system. The depth is set at 35 cm, ensuring a practical and functional design. This bookshelf is not just a static piece of furniture; it is an interactive experience. The end user has the ability to customize and personalize their bookshelf to meet their needs and lifestyle. By selecting different materials, finishes, and locations for the main brackets and end covers, as well as the types and quantities of shelves, each individual can create a unique color scheme and composition that reflects their personality.

The Kozo project began in September 2022 and was exhibited at the Art Of Living in November 2022 in Abu Dhabi and the Menart Fair in Brussels in 2023. Its innovative design and exceptional craftsmanship have garnered recognition in the form of the Bronze A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
